Baden, 2 Mark, 1903-G (Karlsruhe), PCGS MS65
Circulation coins were almost never set aside by contemporary collectors like were the commemoratives. That is why it is so hard to find choice examples now-a-days.
This coin is quite exceptional, with full striking, booming lustre and surprisingly clean fields. Even the dreaded forehead is clean. A very faint abrasion behing the King's head is apparent only if you catch the light just right and is all that holds this coin back from an ever loftier grade.
The Pops speak for themselves. "Book" values stop at MS63.
