Prussia, 10 Reichsmark, 1874-A (Berlin), PCGS MS64
A lovely, bright and flashy little coin from the Imperial Gold Reserve out of the Juliusturm in Spandau, near Berlin.
The Large Eagle coins are somewhat scarcer in higher grades than the Small Eagle ones. This example must be from new dies first used for striking Proofs. The fields are mirrored and the portrait and details lightly frosted, producing great contrast - to such an extent I was very disappointed that this neat little coin didn't get a "+"!
Interestingly, this coins has an unusual die rotation of about 15°.
