Saxony (Kingdom), 2 Mark, 1901-E (Muldenhütten), PCGS MS64
The VERY high portrait of Albert makes these circulation issues VERY hard to find in higher grades.
This unsually beautiful coin has NO problems visible to the naked eye. This is an early strike which PCGS might sometime get around to giving the "PL" grading it richly deserves. This is a superb early strike with slightly frosted relief and mirrored fields. Tiny ticks of contact are hidden in the relief and slight signs of cabinet shine are aesthetically pleasing.
This coin has such a lovely overall steel / pewter toning that it makes it a subtle piece to behold in peace and quite, just for the joy of it !
Don't let the mintage fool you. Take a look at the Pops to see how hard these are to find in perfect condition.
