Schaumburg-Lippe, 2 Mark, 1904-A (Berlin), PCGS PR64

The relatively small portrait leaves lots of field free for contact ! On this coin, there is nothing apparent to the naked eye. Apparently what PCGS didn't like so much is a very small area of natural porosity on the surface at the very left of the obverse. Otherwise a very flashy Proof with lots of contrast (try again for a CAM?). With a mintage of only 200 Proofs, this circulation coin ranks as one the rarest issues of the German States. Whether any better examples have survived is questionable, as the fields are SO sensitive. |
